| my mind... contour hardening The owner/inventor of this process is a Purdue MSE grad and he came and spoke to us once about the process. The thing that stuck out in my mind is that, at the time IRL cars were breaking transmissions until they starting treating their gears with his inductive process. His new case hardening process showed an incredible increased longevity. I wish I could remember all the stats, but it was so outside the norm that it really made an impression on me.
